Barbara Dove

Barbara “Barb” Jean Dove, who was born to Carl and Dorothy (Harrison) Buchheit on October 31, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa, passed away at the age of 74 at Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, IA on September 25, 2021.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30th from 5-7 pm and a private family service will be held on Friday, October 1st, at 10:30 am, both at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee. Barb married the love of her life, Charles E. Dove III on June 12, 1965. Barb retired from McCamish Incorporated. She had previously worked at Sears Credit and Marsh Insurance after raising their two children at their home in Waukee.

Barb was extremely intelligent and was an avid reader. Had she auditioned for the show, she would have been a Jeopardy champion! She enjoyed solving puzzles and playing games. Her cooking was legendary and the family recipes she created will be passed down and enjoyed for generations. She loved being a grandma.

Barb is survived by her children Jennie (Dennis) Dove-Deerr of West Des Moines and James Dove of Waukee; grandchildren Amanda (Dallas) Lovell, Natalie, Meri, Skyler, Alena, Courtney, Trinity and Logan. Her surviving siblings and in-laws include John (Martha) Buchheit of Leesburg, FL, Cathy (David) Merryman of Raleigh, NC, Robert (Susan) Buchheit of Ft. Worth, TX, Mary (John) Spicer of Monroe, NJ, Richard Buchheit of Omaha, NE, Charlotte Buchheit of Marietta, Georgia, Jean Buchheit of Clive, IA, and Fred Willner of Faribault, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Dove, her parents, and her siblings Charles Buchheit, David Buchheit, Janet Gartin, Judy Wilner and nephews, Larry Gartin and Damien Krzemien.
