Carleton was born December 23, 1953 in Des Moines, IA to Roy and Chloris Stoll of Bondurant, IA. He graduated from Bondurant-Farrar High School in 1972. During his youth, Carleton helped his family with chores on the farm and enjoyed 4H, racing go-karts, snowmobiling and playing baseball, basketball and football.
On June 8, 1974, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Susan Divis. Together they made their home in Bondurant and were blessed with two daughters, Stephanie and Lindsey. His many professions included carpentry, welding, sporting goods retail and records management for Principal Financial. Carleton coached his daughters in their various sports and proudly attended their many activities which continued with his grandchildren’s undertakings as well . He was an avid and expert outdoorsman, spending much of his free time fishing or hunting deer, pheasant, turkey, mushrooms and wild asparagus. In his later years, he developed a love for gardening. He enjoyed cooking for his family (to say he was a good cook is an understatement), playing cribbage with friends and watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Carleton is survived by his wife and “bestest nurse” Susan Stoll; daughters Stephanie (Anthony) Rosing and Lindsey (Jon) Clark; three beloved grandchildren Noah (Lindsey) Rosing, Chloe and Joseph Clark; great-granddaughter Norah Rosing; sister Christine (Kerry) Passick; mother-in-law Lorraine Divis; aunt Arlene Linn and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Chloris and father-in-law Joseph Divis.
Carleton was passionate, kind and caring, wore his heart on his sleeve, loved his family and friends dearly and was grateful to God for his many blessings.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church where Carleton was a member.
Ernst Funeral & Cremation Services of Waukee has been entrusted with Carleton's final arrangements.
