Charlene M Kinney

Charlene M. Kinney, who was born on December 11, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph and Charlotte Pellin, passed away at the age of 75 on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Charlene spent her childhood in Milwaukee and went on to graduate from Custer Catholic High School in 1964.  Charlene moved to West Des Moines, IA, before eventually settling in Waukee, IA, due to a job transfer with Sears, where she retired from after over 35 years of dedicated service.  Charlene was a breast cancer survivor and always showed her support to other women fighting the battle as well.  On December 31, 2011, she married Darrell D. Kinney, Jr. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee.  Charlene enjoyed playing any number of card games, watching game shows and rooting on the Green Bay Packers.  Her favorite movie was "It's a Wonderful Life" which she loved to watch every year.  Charlene was also active in the VFW Post #11517 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Charlene is survived by her loving husband Darrell; sons Paul Proft of Milwaukee, WI and Peter (Jennifer) Proft of Urbandale, IA; two step-children; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren (with one on the way).  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.; Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., both at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee.  Personal face coverings and physical distancing will be required.  Charlene's service will be live-streamed and can be viewed starting at service time or anytime thereafter at: www.facebook.com/ernstfuneralcremation.
