Cindy Rae Delaney

December 23, 1973 — May 4, 2026

Waukee

Cindy Rae Bridger-Delaney, 52, a proud Waukee, Iowa native, passed away on May 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew her.

Born on December 23, 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa, Cindy grew up surrounded by family, friendships, and the kind of roots that stay with you for life. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Ken, whom she married on September 20, 2008, and the most incredible, hands-on mom to her daughters, Peyton and Morgan. Being their mom was her greatest joy. Whether she was in the kitchen making homemade banana bread, laughing alongside her girls, or sharing in their traditions, like Peyton’s famous buffalo sauce or Morgan’s amazing shrimp cocktail sauce. Cindy created a home filled with love, laughter, and connection.

Cindy had a smile that made you feel instantly at home. She had the kind of smile that didn’t just light up a room, but made everyone in it feel like they mattered. And if you heard her laugh, you really knew you were in the right place. It was big, loud, contagious, and always ended with what those closest to her lovingly knew as the “Cindy Snort.” It was unforgettable, just like her.

Cindy loved big—really big. She was selfless to her core, always putting others before herself without hesitation. She was the ultimate caretaker, especially to her mom and dad, giving her time, her energy, and her whole heart. That was just who she was, someone who showed up, no matter what.

Professionally, Cindy was a lifelong dental hygienist, but to her, it was never just a job. Her patients were like family, building relationships that went far beyond appointments. She found joy in the simple, meaningful moments; family gatherings, traditions, and time spent together. And if there was a fishing pole nearby, Cindy was all in. She was wicked good at fishing and loved every minute of it. Also, don’t forget her love of her ISU CYCLONES!

Family meant everything to Cindy. She is survived by her loving husband, Ken; her daughters, Peyton and Morgan. She shared a special bond with her brother, Mike and fully embracing her role as the “annoying little sister,” a title she wore proudly and with love. She adored Mike, his amazing wife Mikael Jo, and her niece Bailey Jo of Missoula, MT. She was also blessed with her Delaney brothers-in-law, Mick (Kenzie), Jeff (Jodi) and all of her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly (Bailey Jo, Kristen (Clint), Matt, Katie, Liam, and Laityn.) as well as Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & Chosen Family whose lives are better because of her.

Her family extended far beyond the immediate; her cousins were her crew, truly ride-or-die, and together they built a lifetime of memories and continue to carry on her love of life. Cindy was a true ROCK STAR aunt, following in the footsteps of her beloved Aunt Jackie, who showed her just how special that role could be.

Growing up on Gray Avenue and graduate of the Waukee Class of 1992, created a bond built on lifelong friendships, shared memories, and a love of life that continues to this day.

She is now reunited in peace and love with her parents, John and Joyce Bridger; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Michael and Becky Delaney; her grandparents; and the many members of her family who went before her—welcoming her home with open arms.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee. Cindy will be laid to rest at the Waukee Cemetery in a private graveside service. A celebration of Cindy's life will be held from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Glynn Village Clubhouse (1440 SE Waddell Way, Waukee). In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to do something Cindy would have done—cook with someone you love, carry on a family tradition, cast a fishing line, or simply show up for the people who matter most. A fund has been set up at Charter Bank in Waukee for Peyton and Morgan’s college fund - an act of love and kindness to honor her girls. Donations can be made to Peyton and Morgan's College Fund and will be accepted at Ernst Funeral Home (during visitation) or can be mailed or dropped off at Charter Bank, 455 6th Street, Waukee, IA 50263.
