Clarence James House passed away on June 8, 2024 in Grimes, Iowa. He was born on May 4, 1928, in Webster City, Iowa to Clarence and Violet House.


Clarence pursued a fulfilling career as a train repairman for the railroad system with part-time jobs at gas stations as well. His expertise and commitment left a lasting impact on those around him. He attended Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, MO, laying a foundation for his future endeavors. Clarence married his beloved wife, JoeAnn Bradley, on December 1, 1945, in St. Louis, MO. Their love and companionship were sources of strength and joy throughout their lives.


In his leisure time, Clarence indulged in various hobbies and interests that brought him immense happiness. He shared a deep passion for traveling with JoeAnn across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. An enthusiast of all things related to cars, Clarence found delight in rebuilding engines, collecting automobiles, and attending numerous car shows. His skills at building and fixing things earned him the endearing nickname "Tool-Time" Clarence among friends and family. Additionally, he had a keen eye for photography and quickly honed his skills under professional guidance. Known affectionately as the "candy-man," Clarence spread joy by sharing his candy supply with everyone.


Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Violet, wife JoeAnn, as well as his brother Gary A. House Sr. He is survived by his daughter Karen (Kent) Harshbarger of Redfield, Iowa; granddaughter Kristi (Dan) Harshbarger of Waukee, Iowa; great-grandchildren Emerson and Margot; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Services to celebrate Clarence's life will be held at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee, Iowa. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on June 13th followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM to honor his legacy. Interment to follow at the Waukee Cemetery.
