Cynthia Lee Bower, a deeply caring and generous soul, passed away on September 20, 2025, in Urbandale, Iowa. Born on July 20, 1961, in Mason City, Iowa, Cynthia dedicated her life to those around her, leaving a beautiful legacy of love and compassion.

Cynthia cherished her role as a grandmother and found immense joy in seeing her grandchildren, Alexandria, Quinton, Hunter, and Oliver, who brightened her life in countless ways. The bond she shared with them reflected her nurturing spirit and her commitment to creating lasting memories.

A passionate advocate for veterans, Cynthia was especially dedicated to recognizing the service of those who served their country, particularly the green berets. Her relentless pursuit of honor for her late husband, Thomas Charles Bower, who bravely fought in Vietnam, showcased her unwavering determination and love. She fought not only for his recognition but also to ensure he received the honors and benefits he deserved, embodying the strength of her character.

Cynthia's creativity shone through her many hobbies. She had a special love for cats, especially her beloved companions Chili, Pepper, and most recently, Charlie. Cynthia also enjoyed engaging in various crafting projects, from making beautiful wreaths to exploring floral design. Cooking for her family and friends was a cherished pastime, as she loved to bring everyone together around the table.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Lily Grace (Aaron) Ilvess; her cherished grandchildren, Alexandria, Quinton, Hunter, and Oliver; and special family friend, Mandi Poganski. Cynthia is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Charles Bower, and her parents, Kenneth and Grace Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee, Iowa, starting at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather as we remember Cynthia's remarkable spirit and the love she imparted to all.

Cynthia Lee Bower will be deeply missed, yet her legacy of love, creativity, and advocacy for others will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
