Dakota Marty Fay, born on September 6, 1992, in Vernal, Utah, passed away on September 3, 2024, in Madrid, Iowa. Dakota was a beloved son, husband, brother, grandson, and friend who leaves behind a legacy of kindness, inspiration and passion.
Dakota cultivated his skill set under the guidance of his godfather, Troy Smith, beginning at the age of 15. He demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his craft and spent many years honing his abilities, becoming a jack of all trades and master of many things. Dakota proudly served as a lead foreman at Jontz Painting from 2017 until 2023. Following this period, he pursued his entrepreneurial dream by starting his own business, Fays Finishes. His work exemplified dedication and precision, reflecting Dakota's commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dakota was known for his vibrant personality. When he spoke, people listened, and he possessed the remarkable ability to forge connections with those around him—he never met a stranger. His social nature allowed him to inspire countless individuals within various communities and groups, embodying a spirit that brought people together. Dakota had an adventurous soul, often seen enjoying longboarding, exploring new landscapes, learning, playing video games, and cherishing time spent with his adored dog, Isabelle.
Dakota is survived by his devoted spouse, Lauren Nicole Stripe; his sister, Kiana Alise (Drew Johnson) Fay; his loving grandparents, Edna May Bingham; Robert L. Fay and Dewey and Lorrie Thomas; his sister-in-law, Katelyn Marie Stripe; his brother-in-law, Logan Patrick Stripe; his mother-in-law, Stephanie Ann Judkins and a host of friends and loved ones who were touched by his presence. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alayna Fay, and his grandfather, Allen Gilbert.
A visitation in honor of Dakota will take place on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., both at Ernst Funeral Home, located at 80 NE Dartmoor Drive, Waukee, Iowa, 50263. Dakota will be laid to rest at Sunny Hills Cemetery in Grimes, IA.
