Daniel Paul Petersen, 52, was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 29, 1962. After a brief struggle with pancreatic cancer, he died at home in Waukee, Iowa on June 9, 2015. Services will be held at Ernst Funeral Home, 80 NE Dartmoor Drive, Waukee; visitation from noon to 2 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2015, and funeral on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 pm. All are invited to a 1:00 PM luncheon at the Van Meter Veteran's Reception Center, 910 Main Street, Van Meter. Dan enjoyed motorcycling, bicycling, home improvement, the outdoors, and time with family. He took pride in a job well done, no matter the project. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Petersen.
