Daryll E Waters

Daryll Eugene Waters passed away at the age of 82 on Friday, November 20, 2020, at MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center in West Des Moines, IA.  A memorial service will be held Friday, December 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 900 South Warrior Lane, Waukee, IA 50263 (Masks and Social Distancing required). Daryll was born on May 27, 1938, in Iowa City, IA, to Raymond and Adeline (Ellis) Waters.  He graduated from East High School in Des Moines, IA, before marrying the love of his life, JoAnne Carlson, on January 25, 1958, in Ankeny, IA.  Together they resided in Waukee for over 55 years.

Daryll was a semi driver for Farmland Industry for over 33 years before finishing his career with Western Co-op for another 14 years.  His career of driving trucks was truly his favorite hobby.  He hauled gas, propane and liquid fertilizer across Iowa and several surrounding states until his retirement at age 79. 

Daryll gave his children the gift of gab and never met a stranger.  He often spoke fondly of those he would meet and work with through his travels.  Daryll adored his wife, JoAnne, whom he was married to for 62 years, and could always be found by her side.  Together they enjoyed many wonderful years traveling with their children as they grew, visiting their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending NASCAR events.

Daryll is survived by his loving wife JoAnne of Waukee, IA; children Richard of Waukee, IA, Roderick (Judy) of Jenks, OK, Kevin (Beth) of Hiawassee, GA, Kandace (Stan) Lallky of Dallas, GA, Jeffrey (Sheila) of Mechanicsville, VA, and Julianne Drost of McKinney, TX; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Kay Hollen of The Woodlands, TX, and many additional family members, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
