Doris Rae Everhard, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at her home in Waukee, Iowa on October 7, 2023. She was born on December 4, 1950, in Charles City, Iowa to Darwin Smith and Vivian (Kerr) Smith.
Throughout her working career, Doris dedicated herself to the field of medical transcription and secretarial work. Her commitment and attention to detail made her a valued member of the profession. She approached her work with professionalism and an unwavering dedication that earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Aside from her professional achievements, Doris had a vibrant and fulfilling life outside of work. She was a huge Elvis fan and filled her home with his timeless music. The magnificence of Elvis's voice brought immense joy to Doris's heart. In addition to her love for Elvis' music, she found great comfort and humor in the Peanuts comic strip created by Charles M. Schulz. Snoopy's adventures never failed to bring a smile to her face.
Doris was a loving wife to Robert Everhard, who stood by her side throughout their journey together. Their love and companionship were truly inspirational to those around them. Together they built a life filled with love, support, and shared memories that will forever be cherished.
Doris leaves behind her daughter Angela Jessen of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; beloved granddaughter Chloe Jessen of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and her sister Ardis Good of Richardson, Texas.
A committal service with Catholic burial rites will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa on November 17, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. Guests attending should gather at the Administration building 10-15 minutes prior to the set service time. Line up along the LEFT (North) side of the road at the administrative building (behind the black dodge magnum). DO NOT park in the parking lot. REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLES. The cemetery staff will lead us all down in our cars at service time.
