Evan Alan Bartelt, age 80 of Waukee, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in Urbandale, Iowa. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 am, with visitation starting at 9:30 am, both at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University, Clive. Evan was born on November 2, 1942 in Des Moines, IA to Herman and Neva (Peitzman) Bartelt. He graduated from Grimes High School in 1960 before earning his degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.
On September 4, 1965, he married the love of his life, Judith Coulthard in Grimes, Iowa.Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and taking trips to England, Austria, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Hawaii, and cruising to Alaska. As a family, they enjoyed vacations to the mountains, visiting national parks and boating. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing with the Faith pinochle club. He also enjoyed fishing and reading. Above all, he was a caring family man and friend to all.
Evan was a man of many talents and a dedicated provider. He started his working career at the Ankeny Press Citizen before taking a position with Maytag in Newton in their public relations department. He would transfer to Maytag’s Cleveland, Ohio branch as their office manager before making his way to Pennsylvania to join their sales team. After his time with Maytag, he would go on to buy Tri-States Mills & Elevator before working for the Blount Corporation selling dryers and farm equipment. Evan went on to own Martin's Appliance in Des Moines before finishing his career in sales at Granger Motors.
Evan is survived by his wife Judy of Waukee; children Joy Watson of Westminster, CO, Kara (Michael Chung) Bartelt of Los Angeles, CA and Brian (Marta Costello) of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren Rogan Watson, Audrey and Beatrice Chung, and Eve, Grant and Flynn Bartelt; siblings Dean Bartelt, Ellen Zoerink, Bruce Bartelt and Craig Bartelt. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild Riley Watson.

Ernst Funeral & Cremation Services of Waukee has been entrusted with Evan's final arrangements.
