Joey Robert Frederick

Rest in peace Joey Robert Frederick (June 7, 1953 - July 21, 2026) who died at the age of 73 after a lengthy illness.

Joe was best known for his love of life, his sense of humor, his generosity to those in need, his devotion to his family and to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Joe loved playing cards, watching Hallmark and classic western movies and the Cubs (even when they were losing). He was a happy guy with an infectious laugh who loved traveling, a good joke, and making children smile. He never missed the chance to give a grandchild a piece of candy or bubble gum.

Born in Manchester, Iowa, he graduated from Starmont High School, served in the military, then came home to work the family farm. He received a bachelor’s degree in English from Upper Iowa University and a master’s degree in Business from the University of Iowa. In addition to farming he worked for Farm Credit Services in New England, managed a number of car dealerships in Iowa and Illinois, and drove a school bus for several years after he retired. Joe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waukee, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ann Frederick, his children Jason Frederick (Kate Eliz), Amy Roach (Rob), Justin Frederick (Allison), Chelsea Bare (John), Jessica Kralicek (Lou), Heather Palmer (Chris), his brother Jim Frederick (Jan), his sister Jeanne Vanda (Bob Saunders), sister-in-law Carol Bowden; brother-in-law Howard (Kyndra) Holm and his grandchildren Matthew, Mason, Alexandria, Xavier, Logan, Isabelle, Jack, Jocelyn, Caitlin, Joshua, Ethan, Grayson, Lochlan, and Sophia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Frederick, and his son Matthew Frederick.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Waukee, Iowa. Visitation (10 a.m.) and funeral services (11 a.m.) will be followed by a short committal service at the Waukee cemetery and luncheon back at the church. The funeral service will be streamed and can be viewed at www.ilcwaukee.org. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waukee.
