Karmen June Gibbs Diehl passed away peacefully at home in Waukee surrounded by her family on October 17, 2022 at the age of 86. She was born on October 14, 1936 in Wayne County, Iowa to Jay and Mildred Gibbs.
Karmen was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and lived most of her life in Osceola, IA until moving to Waukee to be closer to family for the past 10 years. She enjoyed playing basketball in her youth and watching her favorite player Lebron James play for the Lakers. Karmen enjoyed caring for others her whole life, and was a dedicated homemaker. She spent many years volunteering at the Osceola Community Center, helping with the Toys for Tots program during Christmas time. She never met a stranger and loved helping and serving those around her. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother.
Karmen was preceded in death by her father Jay, mother Mildred, sisters Karolyn, Karen, and Kathy and brother Kenneth.
She is survived by four daughters: Elaine Gibbs-Claspell (Michael) of St. George, Utah and their son Thatcher Claspell (Liz) of Phoenix, Arizona; Jeannie Gibbs Wuthrich (James) of Mapleton, Utah, and their three children Ari Natalya Terry (Jeff) of Lehi, Utah, Alessandra Hall (Seth) of London, United Kingdom and James Wuthrich of Mapleton, Utah; Carla Gibbs Draper (Kevin) of Prescott, Arizona, and their daughter Maddie Faye Van Neck (Rick) of Mesa, Arizona; and Salowa Diehl Deemer (Bernie) of Waukee, Iowa, and their four children Chase Deemer (Sydney), Devon Stonehocker, Colton Deemer, and KaDee Deemer of Waukee, Iowa. She is also survived by her seven great grandchildren Landon and Liam Terry; India Rose and Ezra James Hall and Aubree, Beckett, and Wyatt Deemer. Karmen is also survived by her sister Keo Gibbs Holmes of Corydon, Iowa, her brother Keith Gibbs of New York City and many nieces and nephews.
A private viewing for immediate family will be held at the Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee, IA. A small graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Corydon Cemetery, on October 21st, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Feel free to join us and celebrate Karmen’s life.

We will save it for a later date to purchase a memorial stone for our mother.
