Kathleen Kay Stammer

Kathleen Kay Jahnel Klindt Stammer, 80, left this life for her Heavenly Home on October 11, 2026.

Born November 19, 1945 in New Haven, Iowa, to Richard and Mary C. (Weber) Jahnel, Kathy graduated with the Class of 1963 and would go on to attend Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. During her career, she worked for: D.M. Homesteaders Life, Massey Ferguson, Kelly Girl, American Can and Patton Corp. at Sun Valley Lake.

During her marriage to Doug Klindt, a daughter Jennifer was born. On June 26, 1976, Kathy married Norm Stammer. They enjoyed entertaining friends and family at the lake for over 20 years; where Kathy would remain 10 years after Norm’s passing in 2005. She enjoyed her social life and view from the deck.

Kathy is survived by daughter Jennifer (Dave) Monroe, Berryton, KS; granddaughter Amanda Monroe, Kansas City, MO; grandson Jeremiah (Avery) Monroe, Berryton, KS; great-granddaughter on the way Katherine Monroe; siblings Dode Westendorf, Connie (Larry) Bennett, Faye (Fred) Bodenhamer, Jan (Rick) Wepler, Colleen Jahnel and Karri (Jerry) Pilgrim; along with numerous nieces, nephews, Jahnel and Weber cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, husband and brother-in-law Bill Westendorf.

A visitation will be held Fri., Oct. 16, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee. A funeral service will be held Sat., Oct. 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Living Faith Lutheran Church, 2180 NW 142nd St., Clive with interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. A luncheon will follow the burial back at the church. Memorials may be directed to Living Faith Lutheran Church in Kathy’s memory.
