Nora Emilsey Chaya

Nora Emilsey Chaya, passed away January 25, 2024, at the age of 71. She was surrounded by her loving family at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nora was born on August 1, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio. Throughout her life, she exemplified a strong work ethic and a genuine love for her family and community. Nora's kind-hearted spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As a Shipping Clerk for Greyhound, Nora's attention to detail and commitment to excellence earned her the respect and admiration of both colleagues and customers. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Nora's true legacy resides in the love she shared with her husband, Nelson Chaya. Their unwavering bond served as an inspiration to many couples around them. It was clear to anyone who observed them together that their connection was built on mutual respect, love, and support.

Nora's presence will be deeply missed by her son, Joe Weppelman and his family of Austin, Texas. She cherished spending time with them and created countless precious memories during their visits. Nora adored her four granddaughters and two great-grandsons immensely; they brought great joy into her life.

Her loss is felt not only by her immediate family but also by numerous extended family members and dear friends who had the privilege of being part of Nora's circle. As a true friend, she always made time for those who needed a listening ear or some comforting words.

Outside of work and family responsibilities, Nora enjoyed visiting on the phone with family and friendss.

Nora Emilsey Chaya will be remembered as a remarkable woman who dedicated herself to her family, career, and community. Her warm smile, compassionate nature, and genuine care for others will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of sharing this life journey with her.
