Randy went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 3, 2026. Though our hearts are heavy, we are comforted knowing he is now at peace in God’s house.
Randy was a kind and wise man — a great listener with a loving soul, a dry wit, and a sly smile that could mean almost anything. Throughout his long and successful career in banking and commercial development, his door was always open. He mentored countless people over the years, and a person’s status or position never mattered to him. Even after retiring at 72, people would still recognize him and share how he had changed their lives. Our glorious God gave him that gift of encouragement and guidance.
The most joyful times of Randy’s life were spent with his family. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Chris (Kristi Richardson); his daughter, Sara Ehm (Greg); and his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Peg, of 58 years. Secretly, perhaps his greatest joy was being “Gaga” to his two cherished grandchildren, Emily Zanetti (Nick) and Katie Carlson (Luke).
Randy had a lifelong passion for high school and college wrestling, a love that began at West Waterloo High School. He attended nearly every college wrestling tournament he could until age 72, when Parkinson’s disease with Lewy body dementia began to rob him of so much. We are grateful that he is now restored and whole.
With grateful hearts, we thank the compassionate caregivers at Meadowview of Clive, St. Croix Hospice, and Ernst Funeral Home of Waukee. Each of you are saints with loving hearts and gentle hands.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 5:00 p.m., both at Ernst Funeral Home, 80 NE Dartmoor Drive, Waukee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
