Robert B Speer, Jr.

Robert Speer Jr, 49, of Des Moines passed away on January 11, 2021 at his home in Des Moines, Iowa.

Although Rob faced many challenges in his life, he did so with such optimism and belief in himself that he refused to see them as obstacles. His passion and joy in life was to listen to music and be a deejay. We have no doubt that his new audience including his cousin Todd, Grandpa Rex, Grandma Speer and all of his special angels are listening to a new genre of music.

He is survived by his parents Mike (Bob) Speer and his step-mother/angel on earth Kathy Speer, his mother Patty Close and step-dad Dennis Close, sister Stephanie Schermerhorn, step-brother Chad Schnathorst, grandmother Beverly Downward and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Due to COVID-19, funeral services and visitation will not be held. A private burial service will follow on a date to be determined at Waukee Cemetery in Waukee, IA.  A separate celebration of life will be held at a later date.
