Bob was born on June 19, 1922, in Putnam County, Missouri, to Marshall Walter and Elsie Olive Wright. After his graduation from Mt. Ayr High School, Bob hitchhiked across the country holding jobs to keep going. He worked at Boeing Air in Washington State with his sister and mother building aircraft during WWII. Bob was married to Eva Jean Greimann on July 24, 1947. They started out living in Southern Iowa where he worked at jobs including picking up fresh eggs and milk from farmers. They eventually ended up in Waukee where they made their home for over 50 years. Along the way, they were joined by five children, in-laws and 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters. Among Bob’s greatest joys was his family. Bob loved taking his grandchildren and great grandchildren on tractor rides around the block. He taught his family, both male and female, to change the oil and flat tires and help with car repairs in his “Grandpa’s Garage”. The same garage that he spent many hours woodworking and visiting with neighbors and anyone who wanted to just stop and visit. Bob passed away on March 26, 2018. He is survived by children; Roberta (Dennis) Petty, Penny (Richard) Jess, Walter (Terry), Randy (Susan), 11 grandchildren and spouses, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters. Also surviving are in-laws Helen Jeter, Clara Ruth Shelden and Lee Greimann as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years Jean, parents, parents-in- law, son Kevin, grandson Richard Petty and siblings Raymond, Ralph and Lois. Services will be at Ernst Funeral Home on March 29, 2018 at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior. We will always love you.
