Sandy was born on January 29, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa to Annette and Robert Walter. She married the love of her life, Ralph Schulte, on March 8, 1980. Sandy attended Valley High School and Iowa State University graduating Summa Cum Laude with Distinction. Throughout her life, she enjoyed working with youth at Montessori Children’s House and coaching diving at Valley High School. Later in life, while working at West Bank, she worked her way up to 1st Vice President/Assistant Branch Manager. Sandy’s places of pure enjoyment were soaking in the sun in Kauai, RoadRunner Park in Arizona and Des Moines Golf and Country Club all while spending time with her family, her greatest achievement. Other joys in her life were attending kid and grandkid swim meets, Native American studies, and anything related to Christmas.
Sandy battled Lewy Body Dementia for several years. Her final months were spent at Meadowview of Clive, under the care of their wonderful staff and with St Croix Hospice helping guide Sandy and her family throughout her last year and a half. We are very thankful for & appreciate the care and compassion the staff showed Sandy during her final months.
Sandra means protector of mankind. We feel she did that by loving, nurturing, teaching and guiding her family through our walk of life. May she find her comfort and peace with the Lord.
She leaves a legacy of love carried on by her husband Ralph Schulte, Waukee, of 45 years; her three children, Mandy (Adam) Parton, Adam (Courtney) Schulte, Mindy (Kyle) Peterson, and finally her ten Grandchildren who lovingly call her Nana include Mariah, Josie and Ace Parton; Peyton, Mia, Addison and Trice Schulte; Jordyn, Amelia and Wade Peterson.
