Terry Lee Jensen

Jan 19, 1953 — Sep 11, 2026

Waukee

Terry Lee Jensen was born on January 19, 1953, the youngest of 4 children born to Harold & Marie (Whitmore) Jensen. He was born & raised in Schaller, IA, where he attended the Schaller Community School District. After graduating high school in 1971, he attended Dana College, where he played football and baseball. After graduation (1976), he became a teacher & coach at Eastwood High School in Correctionville.

Terry married Connie Todd on April 14, 1979. Together they made their home in Correctionville, IA, and raised 3 sons, Joshua Lee Jensen, Trent Michael Jensen, and Brock James Jensen, who were their pride and joy. They were married for 29 years. During that time, Terry also coached high school football for over 20 years, HS girls’ basketball, HS baseball, HS girls’ track, and various Little League teams. He moved from teaching into selling insurance in 1983, first at the Hoffman Agency and later at Heritage Financial Services. He was also an EMT & volunteer firefighter for the Correctionville Fire Squad. And in his limited spare time, he played fast-pitch softball on a number of different teams over the years.

Terry married Barbara Dins on December 28, 2009, and they made their home in Sheboygan, WI. There he worked part-time at Pizza Ranch & part-time driving stagecoach for the Wade House. He also returned to his love of coaching as a girls’ basketball coach at Kohler High School.

Terry & Barb relocated to Waukee, IA, in 2022. While there, Terry worked moving/delivering vehicles for Shottenkirk Chevrolet Waukee.

Terry was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears football team, the New York Yankees baseball team, and, most importantly, the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was able to take in a Yankees baseball game last August with his three sons, which was a highlight for all of them, and a treasured memory his sons will hold on to! Terry also loved riding motorcycle. His most recent bike was a Can-Am Spider, and he was able to take a trip with his son Brock, riding a portion of Route 66, from Springfield, MO, to Amarillo, TX, this past May.

But Terry’s true passion was his family! He loved his 3 sons with a fierce love & admiration for each of them, and that was multiplied among his 12 grandkids and step-granddaughter. When Terry wasn’t busy with work or other responsibilities, he took trips to Holstein, Le Mars, and Orange City as often as he could to attend baseball games, football games, basketball games, gymnastics meets, concerts, programs, graduations, birthday parties; you name it, he was there! It was not uncommon for him to make the 3+ hour trip for just an hour or two of time with his family.

Terry’s faith was strong, and he leaned heavily on God’s strength & care, particularly during his nearly 2-year long battle with cancer. At the end, he had so much peace and was ready to walk the golden streets of heaven with his Lord. We are grateful that he had that peace and comfort until the very end.

Surviving him are his wife Barb; his children Josh (Heidi) Jensen, Trent (Danielle) Jensen, and Brock (Carissa) Jensen; his step-daughter Cassie (Matt) Brandt; his grandchildren Kinnick, Karver, Knile, Kadrian, Cooper, Kylie, Brooke, Elijah, Madison, Emmalyn, Delaney, & Haley Jensen, and his step-granddaughter Della Brandt; his sister Bette (Edd) Soenke; the mother of his children, Connie (Rick Mogensen) Jensen; and so many nephews, nieces, cousins, and other family members who loved him and will miss him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harold & Marie Jensen, his daughter-in-law Mindy Jensen, his infant sister Phyllis Jensen, his brother Ronald Jensen, and his sister-in-law Lois Jensen.
