Wilma Jean Lester

Wilma Jean Lester, 76, who was born in Des Moines, IA on August 21, 1942, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA on August 24, 2018. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Lutheran Church of Hope, West Des Moines. Internment will follow at the Glendale Cemetery. Jean graduated from Des Moines Technical High School and provided a loving in-home day care business for over 20 years. She enjoyed researching family genealogy and was famous for her homemade chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed walking, traveling, reading books, and spoiling her grandchildren and grandpuppies. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years Richard Lester of Waukee; daughters Rachon (Duane) Miller of Muskego, WI and Nicole (Joe) Lester-Ekis of Waukee; brother Robert (Linda) Shoning; sisters Sue Cox and Vickie (Stas) Puchalski; sister-in-law Patty Shoning and grandchildren Mackenzie, Clayton, Carson, and Emerson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
