Bonnie Jean Anderson, age 77, of Waukee, IA, received her final call peacefully on June 24th, 2020 from a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Bonnie’s work here is done, with the call comes a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time, we are sure there is one hell of a poker game going on in which she is assuredly winning as long as Mo’s paying her ante. Her hands were rarely still, quilting and knitting were among her favorite activities.
Her new home takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, drinking tea, and reading to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce, something we can all get on board with.
She always enjoyed a quick wit and always exuded the ‘Jackie O’ standard. It was the school of hard knocks and hard work as she always said ‘you cant build an empire from bed’. With that said she was genuine to a fault, the best secret keeper around, and a lady of pure class. "The very best is just barely good enough."
Bonnie retired from UPS where she served as a Benefits Coordinator in the downtown Des Moines location. Her astounding work ethic was shown throughout her entire life as were her actions in which she daily demonstrated her other favorite line, “Don’t expect any man to do what you can do for yourself.”
She was born to Maxine and Claude Westman in Chicago, IL. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Teresa), and Phillip (Melanie); two daughters, Leigh, and Stacie (Jeremy); 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Greg Anderson; brother, David; and sister, Donna (Bob).
Please join us in celebrating her life Friday afternoon July 3rd, between 4:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. at 220 Indian Ridge Drive, Waukee, IA 50263. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her charity of choice St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, this was near and dear to her as she never once complained about her situation or pain as she always said ‘if the kids can go through this who am I to complain.’ https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html
